This year's Ohio Winter rally will be held on Saturday, February 4th 2006, as part of the NEOHIO Region and CENDIV SCCA Rally Championship series. The course will take competitors over approximately 160 miles of rural roads, primarily in the snowbelt region of Northeast Ohio. It will wind through hills and valleys, and the covered bridges should be near peak coloration (hopefully white). The rally will follow some of the 'classic' Ohio Winter routes from yesteryear and will be paced accordingly. We will also visit several "new" roads that have never before seen rally traffic.
Competitors can expect an absolutely straightforward, gimmick-free time-speed-distance (TSD) road rally. We will make every effort to avoid populated areas, with well-marked transits to ensure no problems with local residents. The emphasis will be on precise timing at well-placed controls. A columnar "tulip" instruction format including official overall and interval mileage for all action points will be used. Redundant, clarifying instructions will be included anywhere that there is any question of route-following ambiguity. This format has proven quite successful, in keeping novices on course, as well as allowing more experienced teams to concentrate on timing and accuracy. click here for list of rally equipment, tips, tricks and hints....
