Message from the Land O’Lakes Regional Executive, MN Summer Majors
I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for their participation/help on the MNSummer Majors this last weekend. It was Land O’Lakes region’s first Majors race. The last time we had anything comparable was 2001 at the earliest.
I need to first thank Julie Hammons, our race chair, for, well, everything. This would have fallen apart very early if it were not for her unending commitment to making this happen.
Secondly, I want to thank all of our local, regular volunteers and competitors. You are the core of why our events happen. Without you, we can’t put on races, much less a Majors. Whether you are a grassroots single car effort or a team that bring 12+ cars, I appreciate all of you. Whether you have started volunteering recently or are a more grizzled veteran, I can’t express how much I appreciate your willingness to let me and my friends go out and play with our cars.
Next, thanks to all of the folks that attended that are not in the list of our “usual suspects”. The stories of volunteers and competitors that traveled to make this event a success was staggering to me. I know I will miss someone if I try to name specific people so please know, if you came from out of region to help us, you have my sincerest appreciation for your willingness to come a long distance for a first time Majors.
I also want to specifically mention a competitor, Chris Craft. Your willingness to help the region is outstanding. You are the shining example of what a sportsman is supposed to be.
Lastly, we have the opportunity to do this again in 2026. We need to do the final accounting to see if we can do this again financially but I hope we can. Bring your friends next year!
Sincerely, Mark Utecht, Land O’Lakes Region SCCA
