Milwaukee Region SCCA
Milwaukee Mile Event
It is with heavy heart that we must inform you that the Wisconsin Grand Prix at the Milwaukee Mile scheduled for May 19-21, 2023 has been cancelled.
As you may have already heard, there is major construction planned to update the Mile facility this year including some repaving, replacement of some infield jersey barriers with SAFER barriers, replacement of some SAFER barriers that are already in place, re-doing the pit lane, other safety measures regarding the catch fences, and a major upgrade to the Media Center.
As the Mile is a State facility, it is the State who is in charge of the project. Bids for the first phase of construction just went out. This work is expected to be complete in time for their August NASCAR event. Bids for the second phase will go out July 28 for work to be done starting September 1.
Unfortunately they cannot guarantee that the facility will be usable at the time of our event. We don’t want to take the chance of having to cancel things close to the event, so we are removing the event from the racing calendar.
We are thankful to the Mile staff for keeping us informed and up-to-date so that we are able to notify everyone in a timely manner. We look forward to returning to an improved, safer Mile in 2024.
